We also needed an academy that would serve the interests of Catholic families. Following the California Department of Education Code guidelines, St. Michael the Archangel Academy was established as a private school."

St. Michael the Archangel Academy exists to provide a means for member families to support and minister to each other. It is meant to be a family-to-family ministry within the wider support that each family finds in the Church. Besides spiritual support for each other, the Academy provides opportunities of socialization, curriculum development and enrichment, and other means of meeting the unique needs of Catholic homeschooling families.

During these last nineteen years, I have had the opportunity to network within our Diocese, meeting the bishops, and those who work at Marywood Center to introduce homeschooling and offer the prayer support of our Catholic families for their fruitful labors. We advertise in the Diocesan Directory and monthly in the Catholic newspaper.

I have networked and supported the growing Catholic community of homeschooling families in Southern California. I continue to network nationally with leaders from other states and often share information gleaned from the Internet via email with our families. In 1995, I was a member of fourteen leaders from around the United States who were invited to Rome and visited with various Cardinals of the Curia to introduce and explain the concept of homeschooling.

We also appreciate the support of St. Michael’s Abbey. Your support and commitment to belonging to our Academy is much appreciated. We labor together for the glory of God and the instruction of His children. May God bless your school year with peace, happiness and much love."

"I find myself using the reference timeline portion very frequently, it is definitely not a book that will be just left on the shelf"

Alicia Van Hecke

"Most timelines represent world history from a Protestant view, breezing over early church fathers, other people and events that receive greater attention in Catholic history texts.

This timeline set includes most figures you find in other timelines, plus those of special interest to Catholics."
